Lebua Sky Bar: Is It Worth Visiting?
Rooftop bars are everywhere in Bangkok, but few are as famous as Lebua Sky Bar. Its appearance in The Hangover Part II helped turn it into something of a rite of passage for visitors to the city.
From the rooftop, you can look out across Bangkok and the Chao Phraya River. The prices are quite a sight too. With cocktails costing considerably more than you’d normally pay in Thailand, it’s worth asking whether the experience justifies the expense.
We went for the famous Hangovertini (because of course we did). We enjoyed the cocktails, the views and the chance to visit somewhere we’d recognised from the film. Although, before we’d even ordered a drink, we nearly ended up at a completely different bar where the prices were even more ridiculous.
In this post, I’ll share our experience at Lebua Sky Bar, how expensive it is, what to know before visiting and whether I think it’s worth the money.
How Expensive Is Lebua Sky Bar?
Lebua Sky Bar is expensive, even by Bangkok rooftop bar standards. You’re paying for the location as much as the drinks, and there’s no getting around how much a couple of cocktails can cost here.
There’s no separate entrance fee, but visitors are expected to order at least one drink each. According to Lebua’s 2026 drinks menu, the famous Hangovertini costs 1,500 THB, with other cocktails starting at around 1,300 THB. A 10% service charge and 7% government tax are added to the bill.
We ended up having a couple of cocktails each. I’d initially wanted to try the Hangovertini, but a few other drinks on the menu caught my attention too. We were enjoying ourselves enough to stay for another round.

Is Lebua Sky Bar Worth Visiting?
It’s expensive. It’s a bit over the top. But if you’ve got room in the budget, I think Lebua Sky Bar is worth visiting at least once.
We saved it for a treat near the end of our trip. After weeks of relatively cheap meals and drinks around Thailand, spending that much on cocktails seemed slightly ridiculous. But we’d wanted to visit since watching The Hangover Part II, and we were happy to spend a little extra on it.
Looking out across Bangkok with the buildings and streets lit up below was pretty impressive, and the cocktails were better than we’d expected. We spent plenty of time wandering around and taking photographs. The staff were brilliant, too. They took about 20 pictures of us without even being asked, so we gave a small tip as a thank you.
We certainly weren’t in a rush to leave. At those prices, we were going to make the most of the experience.
For us, it was a proper “we’re in Bangkok” moment. Whether it’s worth the money depends on what you want from the evening.
If you’re after reasonably priced drinks, Bangkok has plenty of other options. But if you’ve always wanted to visit Lebua Sky Bar, I can understand paying extra for the experience. It’s certainly one of the more memorable things to do in Bangkok.
Sky Bar or Pink Bar? Know Where You’re Going
The moment the lift doors opened, we were steered towards Pink Bar instead of the Sky Bar we’d come to visit. Not quite the welcome we were expecting.
The Pink Bar is another of Lebua’s rooftop venues, specialising in champagne. It’s very pink, and the prices are even more ridiculous than those at the Sky Bar. The current menu lists signature cocktails at 1,700 THB and champagne cocktails at 2,700 THB, before service charge and tax.
We’d read about other visitors being directed towards different bars at Lebua, so we knew to watch out for it. It certainly seemed to us that the staff were hoping we’d follow along and order an expensive drink without questioning where we’d ended up.
We politely but firmly explained that we wanted the Sky Bar, and were directed there without any fuss. If it happens to you, just be clear about where you want to go. You don’t need to buy a drink at another bar first.

Lebua Sky Bar Dress Code
The official dress code at Lebua Sky Bar is smart casual, although it’s not quite as strict as you might expect. Tailored shorts are allowed, along with smart tops, shirts and suitable footwear. What you can’t wear is sportswear, swimwear, flip-flops or sleeveless tops for men.
I wore Converse when we visited and had no problems getting in, so you don’t necessarily need a pair of dress shoes.
Dress as you would for a decent night out at home and you should be fine.

How to Get to Lebua Sky Bar
Lebua Sky Bar is inside the State Tower in Bangkok’s Bang Rak district, close to the Chao Phraya River. Getting there is easy. Getting upstairs takes a little more work.
The nearest BTS station is Saphan Taksin, around a 10-minute walk away. If you’re coming from Khao San Road or somewhere without a convenient train connection, a metered taxi or Grab is probably easier. Just make sure the taxi driver turns the metre on.
Whatever you do, don’t take a tuk-tuk unless you want a detour to a suit shop.
Once inside the State Tower, you’ll walk through a ground-floor shopping area that looked a bit abandoned when we visited. Then you’ll find the lifts, where staff will direct you towards Lebua’s rooftop bars.
We had to queue for the lift, but getting upstairs was straightforward enough. You don’t need a reservation for Sky Bar, as it’s walk-in only.
Best Time to Visit Lebua Sky Bar
I’d aim to arrive shortly before sunset if you can. You’ll get to see Bangkok in daylight before the buildings and streets light up for the evening.
That was our plan, anyway. We were running late and missed most of the sunset, but there was still a little light left in the sky when we arrived. The buildings and streets were already lit up below us, which made for a pretty impressive view.
Sunset in Bangkok is generally between 5.45 pm and 6.45 pm, depending on the time of year, so check the exact time before visiting. Allow a little extra time to get through the State Tower and up to the bar.
Sky Bar is open from 5 pm to 12.30 am, with last drinks orders at 12.15 am. You can check the official Lebua website for any changes..
The Sky Bar is outdoors, so rain can affect access. If the weather looks questionable, it’s worth checking with Lebua before heading over.
