Private Transfers From The Airport In Aruba

Private transfers offer the ultimate convenience and comfort after your arrival. You won’t have to wait in line and you (and your buddies) will have the vehicle all to yourselves. This is certainly the most hassle-free transport option to make the most of your time in Aruba.

Depending on your budget, you can really go all out and start your vacation in the most subtle or glamorous way possible. With private vans, luxury sedans and even luxury SUVs available you can really arrive at your hotel in style.

After your ‘red-carpet arrival,’ you’ll be driven directly to your hotel, quite likely with a friendly local driver who is on hand to share any insider tips. Private transfers will add a touch of class to the start of your Aruba adventure.

When shared between a group of 4, the average cost of a private transfer service roundtrip to your accommodation is $120 which is excellent value for money in Aruba.

Taxi Services From The Airport In Aruba

There are numerous taxi services waiting for you at the airport. This is an excellent option for those in smaller groups as it can be a cheaper option than a pre-booked private transfer.

Just like private transfers though, these cheerful cabs will only take you and your travel buddies to your hotel so no need to cab share. The average cost of a taxi service from the airport to your accommodation starts at $22 depending on hotel location and the size of your group.

One of the most well-known transfer and tour companies in Aruba, Kini Kini has been transporting visitors since 2004. Their range of well-maintained vehicles and excellent tours have made them one of the most popular and reputable companies in Aruba.

Don’t let the simple name fool you! Aruba Taxi Driver employs some of the most friendly and helpful drivers in Aruba. They also do tours of the island and judging by their reviews, they’re some of the best private tours on offer.

Are there taxis outside Aruba airport?

Yes, there certainly are! As you leave the airport you’ll find many of Aruba’s taxis lining up outside Queen Beatrix International Airport eager to give you your first taste of life in Aruba.

The yellow taxis are available no matter what time you arrive at the airport. Prices are reasonable and this is a great option for anyone not needing a rebooked service or needs a little bit more flexibility.

Don’t be surprised if your driver also turns out to be your local guide as they’ll no doubt tell you all about the best spots and tastiest local eats in town.

Public Transportation Options From Aruba Airport

For those looking for something a bit more budget-friendly, there are always plenty of public transport options.

For around $20 you can easily book a round trip to and from the airport in a modern, air-conditioned bus. These buses will take you to your hotel without the hassle of queuing for a taxi.

A cheaper option for those looking for more flexibility is the Arubus. The Arubus Line 8 will take you from the Aruba Airport to Oranjestad in 10-20 minutes for just a few dollars. Buses are frequent and run from 06:00 to 00:00 but check on arrival.

From Oranjestad, there are great transport options to the rest of the island or you can just stay and enjoy the colourful capital for a while!

Renting A Car In Aruba

Renting a car in Aruba can open up a whole new world of exploration and freedom. Of course, when driving in any new country, there are many things to consider. Let’s dive into the pros and cons of renting a car in Aruba so that you can decide what’s the best option for your travel needs.

The Pros Of Renting A Car In Aruba

When you rent a car in Aruba, you have the freedom and flexibility that is unmatched when compared to public transport.

You can explore at your own pace and venture off the beaten path and discover hidden beaches, local restaurants, and incredible viewpoints.

It’s the perfect option for adventurous travellers and it’s certainly my preferred choice. Plus, with your own car, you can have popular sites and attractions all to yourself if you visit early morning or outside the tour group hours.

The Cons Of Renting A Car In Aruba

There are a few narrow, winding roads in areas of Aruba that might be a little daunting for some drivers. Not many too many but it’s worth noting. Also, as there’s only one main highway from top to bottom, traffic congestion can be challenging during rush hour.

You may also find parking either limited or expensive in some tourist hotspots although we never had many problems and often found free parking.

Then, of course, there’s the rental agency. Some may require an additional fee for insurance excess or a deposit hold on your credit card (which can be up to $2,500 or more.)

In the end, the decision to rent a car in Aruba comes down to your travel plans and style. Independent travellers and adventure seekers may want the freedom to explore every corner of the island in a rental car.

However, Aruba’s transportation options are perfect for a hassle and stress-free vacation. Taxis, shuttles, and buses are efficient and always available and can also take you to pretty much anywhere on the island.

Is it safe to drive in Aruba?

Aruba is generally considered a safe place to drive for tourists. Apart from its famous beaches, the island is known for its laid-back atmosphere and friendly locals and this translates well on the roads too.

The roads are well-maintained and the clear traffic regulations make driving in Aruba a stress-free experience. Most of the main roads are in great condition, so you can travel the length of the island at your own pace without worry.

The locals are courteous and patient with visitors. However, you will be driving in a different country to your own so it’s essential to be mindful of other people’s driving habits.

It’s better to take it slow and familiarize yourself with local traffic rules. Driving with caution will help ensure a smoother experience and a better vacation.

Which car rental company is the best in Aruba?

Since tourism is such a big part of Aruba’s economy, visitors will find plenty of choices when it comes to car rental companies in Aruba.

Most of the big car rental companies are in Aruba, so you can book your rental with confidence. Prices normally start from around $40-$50 per day.

Some of the best car rental companies located near the airport include Alamo, Jay’s Car Rental, Drive 4 Cheap and Sunset Car Rental.

Alternatively, a great option is using Discover Cars to compare prices, which is a great option for the budget-conscious traveller.

Tip: While I believe Discover Cars gives the best prices when comparing rental companies you should be aware that the rental company reviews are generic and not specific to location. Check the Google reviews for the rental company in the location first!
